A cannabis sales license is required to operate a business that involves selling cannabis in Thailand.

A cannabis sales license is obtained in Bangkok by submitting an application to the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine.

A cannabis sales license is obtained outside of Bangkok by submitting an application to the Provincial Public Health Department in that province.

Registration for a cannabis sales license in Thailand requires either a Thai individual or Thai company.

Foreigner individuals and foreign owned businesses are banned from engaging in "retail" or "wholesale" sales activities under the Foreign Business Act unless that have capital of 100,000,000 Baht or more.

Foreign individuals and foreign owned businesses require a legitimate Thai individual partner or majority shareholder / director to engage in cannabis sales (ie retail or wholesale) business in Thailand.

The Thai individual or Thai company must provide the information and documents as set out below to register for a cannabis sales license in Thailand.

  • Application Form (Phor.Thor.12). 
  • 20 Baht application fee. 
  • 3,000 Baht license fee per 3 calendar years. 
  • Power of Attorney if not applying in person. 
  • Letter of consent to use the premises from the premises owner in the event that the premises is not the owner of the premises. It must include relevant information, such as permission to use the premises for the sale or processing of cannabis. 
  • Lease agreement. 
  • Color photos of the inside and outside of the business location including business sign and address number. 
  • Map showing the business address. 
  • Map showing the location of the grow site where the cannabis is or will be purchased. 
  • Original signed ID card of directors, managers or person responsible for the operation of the business. 
  • Original signed copy of house registration of directors, managers or person responsible for the operation of the business.
